The newly renovated Tutor center is located in Hammond room 306 and includes staff offices, five group study rooms, a common study area and the Math Center. The Tutor Center’s 60 peer tutors offer free individual peer tutoring serving freshmen to seniors, in 75 subjects, representing most majors. The Tutor Center promotes a culture where students seek tutoring and academic coaching services early in the semester to prevent academic problems throughout the semester.
Our mission is to improve students’ academic achievement, ability to learn, to apply knowledge and to help students develop their critical thinking skills. Our philosophy is that students become more self-confident and self-directed learners as a result of their on going tutorial relationship. Tutors meet weekly with students in the library and are available by appointment seven days a week at mutually agreeable times during the day, evening or weekends.
